Step-by-Step Guide:
Editing or Removing Unselectable Elements
01. Hide Background Elements
- If you want to quickly remove all background objects from a slide, the simplest method is to right-click on the slide background.
- Choose Format Background from the menu.
- Then click on Hide Background Graphics.
- This instantly removes all background elements, giving you a clean slate to work with.
02. Edit Through the Slide Master
- If you only want to edit or remove a specific object, go to the View tab and select Slide Master.
- In the Slide Master view, locate the layout that contains the element you want to change.
- From here, you can move, resize, or delete any object that was originally locked in the normal slide view.
- This is especially useful for editing logos, placeholders, or design elements that repeat across multiple slides.
03. Unlock Objects Using the Selection Pane
If you’ve tried both methods and still can’t select the object, the issue may be that the shape is locked.
- Go to Shape Format > Selection Pane.
- In the pane, look for any objects with a closed lock icon next to them.
- Click the lock to unlock the object.
- Once unlocked, you can select, edit, or delete it just like any other element.
